I had to fork out over $2,000 to get some repairs done on my Jeep today. These repairs were necessary in order for it to (hopefully) pass inspection next month so really I had no choice. It got me thinking though, the amount I paid today is more than the total cost of my first car (a beautiful blue Ford Tempo, 1987). That just doesn’t seem right does it? Back then I handed a man a check for $1,500 and he gave me the keys to a new (to me) car. Today, the kind receptionist swiped my credit card and I swear I could see my next vacation disappear like a popped thought bubble as a tear fell down my cheek. She then handed me back the keys to the same car that I came in and said “have a nice day!”.
